It's the year 2008 #pastfuturetechnology.
Honestly, I had never paid a lot of attention to the low or mid-range phones after the 7-Series 703SH, but when the 824SH came in a bulk shipment of 13 phones, it stood out.
The burnt orange and blue-backlit keys and LED display are an amazing combo. And true to its "Premium" badge, its mid-range build-quality and feature set are impressive.
To start off with – this is one of the first waterproof devices available on Softbank, up to the standard of IPX5/IPX7. That means it's water proof up to 1 meter for 30 minutes in sea water, hot water, soapy water and regular water, but hasn't been certified for other liquids.
On the tech side, this phone features a low-end 3.2Mpx camera, 2.8" ASV LCD (240 x 400px), Felica NFC Mobile Wallet, 1Seg TV receiver, microSD extension support up to 2GB and HSDPA downlink speeds of up to 3.6Mbps.
Size wise, this stylish handset is around 15.3mm thick, which makes it rather slim for a waterproof device. It's about 127g in weight, which feels nice and solid.
Overall I think this is a great handset by SHARP for those who just need a robust and functional phone that is "extra" but not cutting edge.
